Lord of the Light Art Studio & Gallery (Yelp Listing) teaches students the fundamentals of fine art. The studio has a unique curriculum that is designed to bring out and develop a student’s imagination and creativity.
The Summer Art Camp is a two-week, fun-filled learning experience that includes art history, color theory, origami, animation, and much more. Students also learn pencil drawing skills and how to use medias such as oil pastel, soft pastel, charcoal, and watercolor.
Summer Art Camp will help your child experience new freedom and give your child a new love for art. The camp is for kids in 1st – 7th grade.
The tuition is $260 per student, per session. Fifteen percent of all tuition collected for the 2010 Summer Art Camp will be donated to each of the San Jose Unified School District schools the students are attending.

Good manners never go out of style! Raise a perfect gentlemen with Old School Etiquette for Boys. This class will help your son with his manners, appearance, and confidence at social gatherings.
Topics include good posture, public speaking, being a good sport, and table manners. The class ends with a dinner to practice all of the skills the boys have learned. This class is also a great refresher for returning students. The class is for boys ages 7-12.
The class meets six times at the Almaden Community Center on Wednesdays, April 28 – June 2, 2010, 3:45pm to 4:45pm. The price is $79 per boy. You can register your son online.
Cheerleading Summer Camp participants learn everything from fundamental arm movements, kicks, jumps, and turns to flips, chants, routines, and proper warm-ups and stretching.
Campers perform a full cheer routine for parents, guardians, and friends on the last day of class. This camp is guaranteed to be a blast. Cheerleading Summer Camp is for boys and girls ages 6-11.
The price is $95 for the week. The camp is at the Almaden Community Center, June 28, 2010 through July 2, 2010, 9am – 12pm daily. You can sign up online.
Sign your child up for Almaden Jr. Chef’s Summer Camp. Campers will learn basic cooking techniques, fun how to’s, healthy eating tips, and design their own herb garden and reusable shopping bag.
The camp also features multicultural food demonstrations and supervised play time. Sign your child up for one or two weeks. The camp is for boys and girls ages 6-10. The camper to staff ratio is 1:12. The price is $295 per camper for one week.
Almaden Jr. Chef’s Summer Camp is at the Almaden Community Center. You have two one-week sessions to choose from: July 12, 2010 – July 16, 2010, and/or August 2, 2010 – August 6, 2010. Camp is held 8:30am – 12:30pm daily. You can sign up online.

There are three different one-week camps to choose from: Spybots (ages 6-9), Pro Builders (ages 7-9), and Rev-Up (ages 6-9). Each class will involve five building projects, one each day of the week. Students take home a CD with building instructions and a camp t-shirt. Read the class descriptions.
Classes are at Holy Spirit School in Almaden Valley on June 21-25, 2010; June 28-July 2, 2010; and July 6-9, 2010. These are special half-day classes from 2-5pm daily. (No extended care available.) Price is $200 per camper for the week.
In addition to its regular weekly art classes, Cindy Art Studio is offering special week-long Summer Art Classes for children ages 4 and older.
You can choose from a variety of art mediums that interest your child, including: pencil, charcoal, pastel, watercolor, acrylic, oil, polymer clay, rock painting, sand art, scratching art, and wood burning.
Summer Art Classes are at Cindy Art Studio, near the corner of Almaden Expressway and Blossom Hill. There are nine week-long Summer classes to choose from. The classes begin June 15, 2010 and end August 13, 2010. Class is held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 3:30 – 5:00pm or 5:00 – 6:30pm.

Spring Swim Lessons are back at the Almaden Cabana Club! The club offers small group lessons for children ranging from beginners learning to blow bubbles and put their faces in the water to competitive swimmers looking to refine their swimming strokes, diving, and flip turns.
Lessons are open to members and non-members. There are four lessons on Saturdays, from April 24 through May 15, 2010. Each lesson is 30 minutes. You can choose from the following times: 10am, 10:30am, 11am, and 11:30am. The price is only $35 for members and $45 for non-members.
All you need to do is complete the swim lesson sign-up form and drop it off along with your payment in the mailbox on the front gate of the Almaden Cabana Club. We look forward to seeing you at the pool!
Does your child love lacrosse? Would they like to work on their skills and bring their game to the next level? If so, Skyhawks Sports is holding boys and girls lacrosse Summer camps in Almaden Valley.
The camp is geared towards kids ages 7 to 12 years old. Each camp includes skill drills, games, and scrimmages. Athletes will learn the fundamentals of stick handling, cradling, passing, and shooting – all in a fun, non-checking environment. Athletes will come away with a deep understanding of the game and its traditions.
In addition to providing health and fitness benefits, participating in Summer lacrosse camp builds self-esteem, respect for others, and teamwork skills. The participant-to-coach ratio is approx 12:1.

Customize your child’s Summer school program. Choose from language arts, mathematics, science, computers, art, geography, current events, and more. Select morning, afternoon, or combine the two for a unique all day experience. The four-week programs and camps are $330 for members of Holy Spirit Church, and $380 for non-members.

The 2010 Citywide Youth Track Meet is being held in Almaden Valley. The meet is free for all participants, and is being sponsored by the City of San Jose and the San Jose Police Amateur Athletic Foundation.
The meet is for boys and girls ages 9 to 14, and includes various running races (50, 100, 200, 400, 800, and 1600 meter and 4 x 100 meter relay), standing long jump, and softball throw.
The meet is at Leland High School on Saturday, May 8, 2010. Registration is from 8am to 9am, and the events from 9am to 3pm.
The top three winners in each event, with the exception of relay teams, will participate in the Hershey’s Nor-Cal State Track Meet, which will be held at Oak Grove High School on Saturday, June 19, 2010.

Camp Galileo is a summer day camp that inspires kids to imagine new ideas, collaborate with peers, and express themselves creatively. Math Enrichment Summer Program further develops each student’s intellect and knowledge in mathematics and language arts. The curriculum is tailored to the grade the student will be entering for their upcoming school year.
Kindergartners through sixth graders learn math, reading, writing, and computers. Middle school students receive a broad education in college preparatory math courses, from pre-algebra to math analysis. Students can also participate in a wide variety of recreational activities planned throughout the summer, including Toy Story 3 movie day, on-campus carnival, Wii time, field trip to Six Flags Marine World in Vallejo, and end of Summer raffle and banquet.
Math Enrichment Summer Program is fully accredited by the Schools Commission of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Math Enrichment tuition and any after school care fees are eligible for flexible spending plans (FSA).

Cheer registration is now open for the 2010 Almaden Pop Warner season. Cheer is for girls and boys ages 5-15. Save $55 by taking advantage of the early registration discount.
Registration fees are $200 if you register by March 27, 2010. Registration goes up to $255 after March 27. There is an additional $255 uniform fee that includes the skirt, shell, liner, shoes, socks, pms, briefs, and bow. The all inclusive registration plus uniform package is $490.
