Martino Interiors is hosting a floral demonstration event at its studio in Los Gatos. The event will feature Kren Rasmussen, founder of Bloomster’s Floral Designs in Almaden Valley. The event is free.
Kren will show you how to create striking floral arrangements and combine them with home accessories, creating beautiful vignettes and centerpieces.
Bloomster’s has been in Almaden Valley for more than 20 years, assisting interior designers with their floral and plant design projects, and providing unique floral designs and personal service to residents in Almaden Valley and the entire Bay Area.

In addition to its regular weekly art classes, Cindy Art Studio is offering special week-long Summer Art Classes for children ages 4 and older.
You can choose from a variety of art mediums that interest your child, including: pencil, charcoal, pastel, watercolor, acrylic, oil, polymer clay, rock painting, sand art, scratching art, and wood burning.
Summer Art Classes are at Cindy Art Studio, near the corner of Almaden Expressway and Blossom Hill. There are nine week-long Summer classes to choose from. The classes begin June 15, 2010 and end August 13, 2010. Class is held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 3:30 – 5:00pm or 5:00 – 6:30pm.

You can chose from any of the following six camp sessions: 6/21 – 6/25/2010, 6/28 – 7/2/2010, 7/6 – 7/9/2010, 7/19 – 7/23/2010, 7/26 – 7/30/2010, and 8/2 – 8/6/2010. Each day (Mon-Fri) camp begins at 9am and ends at 5pm. Price is $254 for residents and $258 for non-residents.

Run or walk in the 18th Annual / 2010 Almaden Times Classic. Events include 10K and 2-mile timed runs, and a 2-mile walk. Proceeds benefit Almaden Valley Counseling Service. The race will take you on a beautiful paved creek trail and through some residential streets in Almaden Valley (10K course map).
Awards will be given to the top three winners in each age division. Overall male and female winners in the 10K and 2-mile timed runs will also receive a gift certificate. All children will receive a ribbon. Age divisions include: 6 and under, 7-9, 10-13, 14-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.
Your entry fee includes a t-shirt, goodie bag, food, and beverages. Random prizes will also be handed out to participants based on race number (must be present to win). Pick up your bib number and t-shirt on race day.
The start and finish lines are at the parking lot of Leland High School in Almaden Valley. The event is Sunday, September 26, 2010 at 9am. Check-in is at 8am.
If you register online by September 22, 2010, the entry fee is $25 per adult/teen, $13 per child (12 and under), and $60 per family of four (including parents and children). If you register on race day, the fees go up to $30 per adult/teen, $15 per child, and $70 per family. Race day registration begins at 7:30am.

Spring Swim Lessons are back at the Almaden Cabana Club! The club offers small group lessons for children ranging from beginners learning to blow bubbles and put their faces in the water to competitive swimmers looking to refine their swimming strokes, diving, and flip turns.
Lessons are open to members and non-members. There are four lessons on Saturdays, from April 24 through May 15, 2010. Each lesson is 30 minutes. You can choose from the following times: 10am, 10:30am, 11am, and 11:30am. The price is only $35 for members and $45 for non-members.
All you need to do is complete the swim lesson sign-up form and drop it off along with your payment in the mailbox on the front gate of the Almaden Cabana Club. We look forward to seeing you at the pool!

The Pioneer High School Athletic Booster Club is holding the 17th Annual Mustang Stampede Golf Tournament. The event includes golf, lunch, dinner, and on-course refreshments. The tournament format is a four-person scramble with a shotgun start.
The event also features tee and raffle prices, long drive, closest to the pin, low team gross, hole in one prizes on all par 3s, and long-drive champion Brian Pavlet. The fee is $150 per person. ($30 for dinner only guests.)

Join the New Almaden Quicksilver County Park Association for its Living With Wildlife Hike in the Almaden Quicksilver County Park. You will learn about Almaden’s mountain lion, bobcat, and coyote neighbors, and how they depend on the park and humans to survive.
This is a 2.6-mile moderate/strenuous hike (small children not advised due to some steep trail sections). Wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring water and sun protection.
Meet at the Almaden Quicksilver County Park Hacienda Parking Lot Entrance, which is located at the south end of New Almaden (directions). The Living with Wildlife Hike is being held Saturday, July 10, 2010 from 10am to 12pm.

The Almaden Quicksilver Mining Museum and New Almaden Quicksilver County Park Association is holding a History Hike in the Almaden Quicksilver County Park.
The hike will be informative and entertaining, and a great way to get outdoors for some exercise and to enjoy the beauty of the New Almaden Quicksilver County Park.
On this hike you will step back in time and learn what it was like to be a quicksilver (i.e., mercury) miner in New Almaden in the mining heyday of the mid nineteenth century. You will ride by van up into the park and then go on a 5-mile hike to various historic sites and stop to have lunch in the park.
Bring a brown-bag lunch, water, sturdy hiking shoes, and sun protection. The tour is $7 per person. Reservations are required. For more information call the Almaden Quicksilver Mining Museum at 408-323-1107.
Meet at the Almaden Quicksilver County Park Hacienda Parking Lot Entrance, which is located at the south end of New Almaden (directions). The History Hike is being held on two different days. Antiques Advisor, Steven Yvaska, is presenting a six-week antiques seminar in Almaden Valley. The seminar is called, “Antiques 3: Getting in Over Your Head and Loving It.”
This seminar is an informal study of the fascinating world of antiques and collectibles. Steven will be discussing topics as varied as gentlemen’s antiques, toys, prints and paintings, springtime holiday artifacts, and select European ceramics.
